With his hit, “Anders als Du” (Different from You), Robert created one of the most successful contemporary German children’s songs. He is, quite simply, the master of simplicity in children’s music. With over 25 years of stage experience, he is able to don the mantle of entertainer with consummate ease.  Robert offers arguably the greatest diversity of musical styles in this genre in his songs for children: from chanson to ballads, to rock and jazz. As the Jazz legend, Gene Krupa, stated to his double bass player, Edwin Gordon (who later became a famed music teacher): “Jazz requires motion”. These inspiring words have been transcribed by Robert Metcalf into his own practice in the form of movement, gesture, sign language – all of which encourage active participation from children and members of the audience.

As agents for Robert, we nurture contact with renowned concert venues and organisers. For many years, he has performed regularly at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, as well as giving guest performances at the Kölner Philharmonie and at the Konzerthaus in Berlin. In early 2017, Robert appeared as the special guest at the first “Family Day” at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and for whose Education department there, he composed songs about different orchestral instruments. Robert’s music is so diverse that he is the perfect fit for any family concert series. His cultivated band sound is the perfect complement to any classics or jazz festival.
